چکیده

Microfabrication of graphene devices used in many experimental studies currently relies on the fact that graphene crystallites can be visualized using optical microscopy if prepared on top of Si wafers with a certain thickness of SiO2. We study graphene’s visibility and show that it depends strongly on both thickness of SiO2 and light wavelength. We have found that by using monochromatic illumination, graphene can be isolated for any SiO2 thickness, albeit 300 nm (the current standard) and, especially, ≈100 nm are most suitable for its visual detection. By using a Fresnel-law-based model, we quantitatively describe the experimental data.

Direct Optical Characterization of Graphene Growth and Domains on Growth Substrates

We detailed a facile detection technique to optically characterize graphene growth and domains directly on growth substrates through a simple thermal annealing process. It was found that thermal annealing transformed the naked Cu to Cu oxides while keeping graphene and graphene-covered Cu intact. This increases the interference color contrast between Cu oxides and Cu, thus making graphene easil...

Nanotitania composite assembled with Graphene oxide for Photocatalytic degradation of Eosin Yellow under Visible light

Visible light responsive Graphene oxide (GO) nanotitania composite was synthesized and its photocatalytic activity was investigated for the degradation of Eosin Yellow (EY). The nanocomposite was synthesized by organic solvent free-controlled hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) exfoliated with 10 wt. % (0.5 g) of the as prepared GO particles under ultrasonication through in-situ additi...

Hydrothermal synthesis of nitrogen doped graphene supported cobalt ferrite (NG@CoFe2O4) as photocatalyst for the methylene blue dye degradation

A magnetic NG@CoFe2O4 photocatalyst was developed via a facile hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) techniques. The CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were found to have a size between 100-150 nm and were unifo...
